Exam Results

This page presents the results obtained in the Cambridge Checkpoint Exams in Year 9, IGCSE exams in Year 11 and A-Level Exams in Year 13, on the British International Line.

Year 9 Student Results

Our Year 9 students achieved outstanding Checkpoint results in English and high results in Maths and Science. The results are above the international average in all three subjects, and they are greatly improved compared to the 2022-2023 results (and increase of 4 points in English and Maths, and 9 points in Science)

Checkpoint Exams are completed at the end of Key stage 3. Scores on the Cambridge Checkpoint scale are from 0 to 50, 50 being the highest level of achievement.

IGCSE Exam Results

Transylvania College has made valuable progress in the percentage of students achieving A*- C in IGCSEs, from 70% in 2022 to 89% in 2024 (+19%) and great progress in the total A*- A grades, from 27% in 2022 to 51% (+24%) in 2024.

This is due to:

  • a continued focus on improving the quality of teaching through rounds of observations by Senior and Middle Leaders each term and rounds of peer observations.
  • the implementation of the Progression Journey for our Secondary Students, with specific criteria of success for their progression into Y10 and Y12
  • a more consistent approach in tracking student progress through half-term assessments and recording of student grades.
  • the continued development of student-led lessons and differentiation in lessons to stretch and challenge more able students
  • the use of latest technology and digital tools such as Century for improving assessments and Spark Generation for developing revision and exam skills

A-level Exam Results

With regard to A-level results, over the period 2022-2024, we've managed to maintain at least 70% of the overall grades between A*- D and to improve the results in 2024 with 9,5%, compared to 2023.
